What happens if my site exceeds my monthly data transfer limit?
If your site exceeds your monthly data
transfer limit each additional 10 MB (daily average)
transfer is charged at $4/ month. For example, if your
limit is 600MB per month (eg. Planet HomePage Small
Site) a 12k web page could be transferred
half a million times before the 600MB limit is exceeded.
Remember, even, if there are a lot of graphics on your
site, a graphic which appears on multiple pages is only
transferred once, but any e-mail you receive to a mailbox
or alias with Planet HomePage will add to the monthly
data transfer amount. 
What happens if I need more disk space?
Additional disk space is available
at $3/MB/month. If you have an ongoing requirement for
additional storage then we advise discussing a custom
rate with Planet HomePage to more effectively meet your
needs.
Can I change from one plan to another?
You may change plans at any time by
advising Planet HomePage direct or through the update
facility located at our update facility.
The new monthly rate will automatically apply from the
next billing month. If you are moving to a higher plan,
you will be charged the difference between the new set-up
and your original set-up plus a pro-rata adjustment
for the different monthly rate. There are no additional
charges when moving to a lower plan.
NOTE: All costs are exclusive
of any domain name hosting or set-up charges.
Can I run my own programs on the server?
Our Fully
Featured Site gives you access to SQL servers
and the ability to run your own programs and PERL scripts
on the server. However Customers are not be allowed
to use excessive amounts of CPU processing on any of
the servers.
Can I publish "adult oriented" material on my site?
This is not permitted due to technical
concerns about maintaining the quality of our service
for our entire customer base . Adult oriented sites
generate a unique pattern of access that is mostly incompatible
with general-purpose web hosting services. We have chosen
to focus on our general-purpose hosting services rather
than pursue any special arrangements to support adult-oriented
sites.
There are many adult-oriented providers operating so
you should have no trouble finding a host for such a
site. However, a successful site for such an application
will be quite expensive. Adult-oriented sites at Planet
HomePage will be removed when detected.
In general terms, Planet HomePage is not responsible
for the site content of our customers and does not regularly
scrutinise site content. As such the responsibility
to conform with the Planet
HomePage Acceptable Use Policy lies with
the user.
Is commercial use of accounts permitted?
This is perfectly acceptable as Planet
HomePage does not distinguish between private or commercial
customers.
Can I have multiple E-mail addresses?
Yes, each plan (except Site
Saver without E-mail) comes with a fixed
level of mail services which can be increased at any
time by contacting Planet HomePage or through our update
facility.
Additional POP3 mailboxes with their own passwords for
receiving mail at different addresses are charged at
$3/month.
There is no charge for E-mail re-directs to existing
mailboxes, or Auto-responders.
Can I have Auto-responders to my E-mail?
Yes, you can add almost any number
of Auto-responders from within your account under any
plan (except Site Saver without E-mail) by contacting
Planet HomePage or through our update facility.
Each additional Auto-responder over the number of mail
responses included with your hosting plan are charged
at $1/month.
This and other features of our accounts are intended
to be used in direct relation to the development of
your own web presence and re-sale of such facilities
is not permitted.
Is there any limit to the amount of E-mail I can send?
There is no limit to the amount of
E-mail that you can send, however all out-going E-mail
messages are included in the monthly data transfer amount.
Consequently If you E-mail 10,000 users a 1K E-mail
message then you have contributed 10MB to your monthly
data transfer.
Planet HomePage does not permit 'spamming'!
How much E-mail can I store in my mailbox?
Normally if you are downloading your
E-mail regularly or using a "redirect" to
forward your E-mail to another location then the size
of your mailbox will be zero. If you don't check your
E-mail regularly and a large amount builds up in your
mailbox it is counted as part of your "allocated
storage". If you plan to store large volumes of
E-mail (this would be considered unusual) then you may
need to increase the amount of "Allocated Storage"
for your hosting plan.
Can I run an E-mailing programme from my site?
No, mass junk mailing, spamming and
E-mail bombs are prohibited as they are incompatible
with the type of service offered by Planet HomePage.
If we receive a significant number of complaints from
Internet users then we reserve the right to terminate
our agreement with you.
Can I host more than one (1) business on my site?
You may display web pages for more
than one business, but would be restricted in the domain
naming and mail handling for such sites and we would
encourage you to consider discussing an alternative
arrangement with Planet HomePage. You are however not
permitted to re-sell our services, Auto-responders or
CGI access to other 3rd parties.
